oh bow you didn't...

there’s just something about bows. so feminine, so classy, so, perfect.  some days it feels like every outfit I wear has a bow on it somewhere, and you know what…. I don’t mind. if you’re going to wear something everyday… it might as well be bows (unless you can wear a giant sweatshirt with a huge cheeseburger on it… then you should just wear that).

makin' people stare

my sister and i have been on dozens and dozens (and dozens!) of photoshoots over the last couple years. and we have gotten some weird reactions. guys honking their trucks, little kids running up and asking to use my camera, and groups of teenagers making rude noises. but nothing is quite as enjoyable as the occasional fashion critic walking by. and on this particular shoot, we were quite tickled to have a young man walk by with his girlfriend, stop, nod his head approvingly, and deem this a "cute skirt!" young lady, that man is a keeper.

(also, obviously we have a problem with buying too much j. crew, whether at the outlet, on ebay, or from thrift stores. they should pay us for how much we promote their clothes)

floral wonderland

whenever i wear this skirt i get the strangest urge to start a flower garden. just imagining all the vivid colors and heavenly scents is enough to make me swoon. then, I remember something… everything i try to plant dies. so I think i’ll just stick with wearing them on my skirt. much less work and commitment.

lil' pop o' color

me mum always told me to wear a pop o' color next to me face to look pretty and youthful. oh, wait. no, she didn't. my mom doesn't even like wearing color that much, and is usually pretty satisfied with a wardrobe of beiges and blacks. and i'm from the south, so i call her "momma". and basically every attempt i make to sound cute and british fails and i end up looking like a six-year-old.

so, yeah. i'm not british. and me mum probably hates it when i call her that. but i do enjoy a little splash of color in life, just to keep things interesting.

you say goodbye i say {yellow}

we don't get why people always seem to think we're twins. we only have the same build, the same hair, the same eyes, and the same dry sense of humor that causes us to tell strangers, "what? no, we're not sisters. we just saw each other across the grocery store and decided to make up that story."

and yet, we're different. and we praise God for each and every one of those differences because they are what makes us each    u n i q u e...

{minted}

mint is hands down one of my favorite colors. so refreshing, so pure, so… springy! this darling skirt has quickly become one of my favorites! it can easily be transitioned from the cooler days of spring, to the blistering days of summer. and if you ask me, it’s also perfect for just lounging around the house in; accompanied by your best “morning pearls” (not to be confused with “afternoon” pearls which are for… the afternoon), and a favorite pair of heels!  just kidding. that’s what pj’s are for.

p.s. you can buy this beauty here.

the wheels go round and round

                {photos by HaLee Curtis Photography}

was it einstein who said, "life is like riding a bicycle. to keep your balance, you must keep moving"? to tell the truth, i really couldn't care less. i certainly wouldn't want to compare life to bicycles--scary, dangerous, and bumpy.

but then again, i am biased. i didn't even learn how to ride a bike until i was thirteen. my little sister had to show me how.

i may never live down the shame of that incident, but at least i can wear cute dresses. with bicycles on them. just because.
