dearest braces, so listen... we need to have a talk. it's been a nice eight years, but i think it's time we part ways. we had our ups and downs (honestly, there weren't many ups), and you've been there with me through much laughter, and many tears. but, when it comes down to it... i'm pretty much over you. i honestly feel like i can walk away having gained something, and i hope you feel the same. sincerely, hannah.

mad about plaid

i like to call this my "free" shirt. wanna know why? because one magical day, i discovered that my big useless jar of change is actually good for something. i can take those coins off my dusty bookshelf, take them to my local grocery store, and trade them in for gift cards to rad places. like gap. and amazon. and... my utter weakness... banana republic.

 

that's right, folks. i basically bought this top with worthless loose change. on black friday, nonetheless. for five bucks. but i just like to think i got it for free. because what was i going to do with all those nickels anyway?

tartan is probably one of our favorite things about fall. beautiful plaid skirts with lots and lots of pleats. because who doesn't enjoy dressing up in red patent pumps and tying ribbons in their hair for a trip to the bookstore?

uptown girls

i'm about to hit you with a ton of pictures. why? because rarely do i get to dress up and take photos at such an absolutely gorgeous place with a stunning view and equally fabulous partner in crime. portland, oregon certainly holds its own against little old middle-of-nowhere, virginia. (although hannah is back in virginia now, waiting patiently for me to get home so we can take some more pictures together soon)

it is such a God thing, too, that elaini just happened to have two nearly identical pink vintage dresses in her basement, just dying to be tried on. what started out as a little dress up game turned into a full-out photoshoot at crown point that led to visitors staring and asking, "are you two going to a wedding?"

"no, dahling, we're just fabulous."

when bloggers meet...

meet elaini. the most beautiful, sweet, godly, spunky girl i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. she's my best friend from across the country and this summer i had the amazing opportunity of flying from sea to shining sea (aka virginia to portland) and spend a few weeks with this gal.

because we're still experiencing a few technical difficulties with our computer back home, the next few posts will be coming from me (rachel) and elaini! hannah will be back really soon and we can't wait to get together again. (because sisters are the best kind of friends)

until then, i'll be enjoying this sweet girl's company! eating ice cream, walking in the park, and vintage shopping to our hearts' content...

i graduated high school last month. and it was such a huge celebration, with all my friends and family there with me, looking forward to what God has in store for my future.

now that i'm finished with school and looking forward to what might come next, i just have to take a few minutes to laugh and spin and really just enjoy this new phase of life. it's a celebration.
