the sole reason

i have a secret love affair with shoes. i can't remember where it started, or what pair it was that first sent my heart aflutter. but all i know is that the right pair of shoes has the power to completely transfix me. and when i saw these shiny red little heels from sole society, my heart was instantly run over. the right pair of shoes can completely transform your outfit, your mindset, and your world. it's true.

vintage escapades

there's just something about dead peoples' clothes. not sure if it's the colors, cuts, or slightly mothy smell. maybe a combination of all three. whatever the case, i'm always on the hunt for new vintage boutiques, etsy shops, and thrift stores.

this is our local vintage store, and it makes my heart beat madly. i bought this amazing pink gown here, as well as half a dozen other vintage treasures that are sure to be featured soon.

some enchanted evening

every once in a while you experience a night so beautiful it just leaves you breathless. lucky for us, we get to experience this twice a year, at our ballroom dancing class's semi-annual balls.

it's always an amazing, eventful night. we spend weeks stressing over what to wear, how to do our hair, what friends to ride with, and (of course) where to take pictures before the ball. this year, we asked our super talented friend kaleb (the force behind By Your Side Photography) to take some photos of us in all our finery before we went and danced the night away with great friends.

it was a beautiful evening, and we were so thankful to be able to spend it together. in glittering dresses, dancing heels, and with lots of laughter all around...

ruffles and neon

i’m kind of in love with these shoes. it took me a while to warm up to them, and i’ve gotten quite the amount of looks and snide remarks on them. but, you know what, with fashion comes risk…. and by risk i mean blinding random people i pass on the street.

four eyes

i'm pretty sure second grade scarred me for life when it came to my glasses. all i know is the moment i turned thirteen (my parents' age requirement, not mine) i raced to my eye doctor and begged for contacts. it took me like two hours to get them in the first time, no joke. but after that, it was smooth sailing.

but now, i'm kind of loving my glasses again. there's something so clark kent about a big pair of nerdy glasses. "i'm-cool-and-i-know-it". or maybe it's just an outspoken uncoolness that others respect. either way, i'm loving it.

come sail away

i've always wanted to love boating… really, i have… it’s just never worked out between us. (cue sad, dramatic music) it all started… well, actually I don’t know when it started, maybe when i got sick riding the ferry at an amusement park (there was a ninety-year-old lady next to me who didn’t seem sympathize with my terrible predicament).

or the time i got ill while on a semi-large ship to going to an island… i may or may not have been lying on a bench in the shade, begging my family members to bring me water and fan me. so anyway, i think i’ll always dream about being cool enough to go sailing, but in reality i'll always be the one with my face turning green and a wet washcloth covering my face.

cherry, cherry, quite contrary...

i went to my best friend's graduation party last friday night and i must admit it was a surreal experience. when did we all get so old? graduating high school and whatnot? with my own graduation party scheduled for the end of the month, i can't help but count down the days until my highschool experience is over. what will the future hold? i'm not quite sure, but i do know one thing--it will hold a whole lot of shoes. because i am a shoe girl to the end.
